Shoe Whore Confessions: Part 2

images-4-1

After thinking about shoes and shoe shopping yesterday, it brought me to deeper thinking.

Why do women love shoes so much?

Why do I love shoes so much?

Several reasons come to mind when I think about the power of the shoe.

Like you learned from my previous blog, I have always been wired on shoe lust since I was a teenager.

We as women are hooked on shoes because shoes are a form of expression, a confidence booster, a great collector’s item, an accessory to our outfits.

So, while we walk through this journey of life, shoes matter.

Just ask Cinderella.

Do a young introduction to shoes come from Cinderella when she left her glass slipper behind? Do little girls subconsciously get the meaning behind the shoe tie into a fairy tale message for life?

Does it come from Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw’s fabulous Manolos? Does the fantasy life of designer clothes and shoes showing the elegant lifestyle shared amongst great girlfriends living a great life continue that fairy tale shoe message?

Or is it something from within?

I do know I would rather shoe shop than clothes shop since clothing never fits right.

But that cannot be the whole reason.

Maybe it is because shoes can transform your mood. Maybe shoes give us courage. Maybe shoes bring us happiness. Maybe it is because shoes carry us in good times and bad and are a consistent friend.

For me, shoes lift me to a higher power. Especially when I wear heels or wedges or stilettos. There is nothing wrong with being closer to God, right?
